Tuesday, October 6

Hello HBVers,

Well, it's another overcast, kinda rainy day up here in the mountains.

OZ weekend was a huge success. Saturday was a gorgeous day with temps in the low 50s. People were waiting in line at 6:30 am!!!! Kinda over the top if you ask me, but I guess they REALLY like the Land of Oz. Sunday was a little overcast with morning temps at 41. Brrrr! Fred's sure did sell a lot of sweatshirts!!! It seems folks had a good time. Put it on your calendar for next year. Autumn at Oz, the first weekend in October!

Woolly Worm and the Valle Crucis Fair is just a couple weeks away. Hopefully the weather will be nice for that also. If you're interested in running the Woolly Worm 5 miler, they are desperate for runners. It should be a good run.

Our guys are still working away on projects. The D and E stairs are done. We've gotten a lot of compliments on it. The painting at the back of the D building is almost done where we had to replace some of the siding and shingles.

We're fixing the gutters at the G building. We've had some rot behind the gutters so we need to get that done pretty quick.

We're also building a rock planter between the G and H bridges to help stop the erosion that's going on on that slope. If we don't take care of it now, we'll eventually lose that road!

We've had to repair some holes in the paved parking area at the K building.

The leaves are almost there. They should be perfect in about a week or so. You gotta go leaf peepin'!!! It's gonna be a pretty year!

Hope to see you in the mountains soon!

  1. My husband and I attended the OZ Festival on Saturday and LOVED it. Happy memories of visits long ago were rekindled. Everything was so organized and well planned. We really enjoyed visiting with all of the characters and feeling a little "magic" in the air. Beech Mtn. has a such a unique "Oz" treasure to share with others and we are very proud to be a part of this community. As owners of a unit in the D building, we commend the builders of the stairs for constructing such attractive and most accomodating access to our building. What an improvement! Things are really looking good!

  2. Thanks for your comments. Jim Frye from Associated Trade Construction built the stairs. They did do a good job for all homeowners in D, E, F, G and H.
